Football Association of Maldives  is trying to kick off this year third division football tournament on 28th October,Sunday.

 

Already the date for teams participation has being due to yesterday, it believed that this year there will be fewer number of teams than last year. 

 

Last year there were 39 teams in the FAM 3rd Division football tournament. Which was carried out as a group stage with 10 groups,then a round of 16 followed with quarter finals , semi-final and a final as in format.

 

This year only 35 team took part in the third tier of local football.

 

Last year's champion Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) won the title after seating the newly introduced team into the third division, Sea life sport Club. While DSC promoted to second division being the champions, along with DSC , Sea Life also promoted to next level (second division) in their first year of local football.

 

Already participating teams have started their training.

 

Soon FAM will held the draw ceremony for third division in the coming days and we predict their will not any changed into the tournament format. 

 

Boalha.mv predicts the participated 35 teams will be divided into 7 groups with 5 teams in each. And top two teams from each group and the best resulting two sides, total 16 teams will be competing for quarter final slots in Round of 16 stage. Later a quarterfinal followed with semi-final and at last the final match to decide the title.
