Victory Decides Not To Attend Game
Victory decided not to turn up for last night's game against TC Sports.
Victory Sports Club has been in crisis last three months, several players claiming that they have not been paid. Sources close to the club claim that the decision not to appear for the game was taken by the board of directors after the club President and his deputy has repeatedly failed to address issues facing the club.
They are yet to make a statement about their next game to be played on the 8th against the in-form New Radiant Sports Club, their old rivals. This match has sometimes been referred as 'Dhi Classico'.
Victory had a good start to the season qualifying to the Premier League under the guidance of Laszlo Kiss. However with the salary issue coach Kiss and the foreign players have left the club.
Victory's last game was played on 26th September when they appeared without practicing for the game and losing to Maziya heavily. Captain Shafiu Ahmed (Shaafy) gathered his men for the last game and was prepared for the same until the board made the decision.
Victory is one of the biggest Clubs in the Maldives with support base all over the country. The last time Victory was in crisis was last year when they sacked their head coach Shazly Mohamed before the season began. Despite spending heavily they failed to qualify to the Premier League under the guidance of Ali Suzain, who is now in charge of Green Streets.
This year Victory appointed former Valencia coach Kiss and brought in players such as Angel Carrescosa Munoz, Ahmed Rasheed (Ammadey), Hussain Nihaan(Niheart), Ali Nafiu (Kalhey) and goalkeeper Mohamed Imran (Kuda Imma).
