Ibbe's Late Goals Down Nepal
Ibbe's late goals give Maldives their first win in the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018.
Maldives beat Nepal 3-0 in the first semi final match of the tournament.
Maldives took to the field with a very unpredictable line-up. Maldives attacked from very early on. Captain Akram Abdul Ghani scored from a distant free-kick to give Maldives an early lead. On the 27th minute mark, the referee halted the game due to rain. Game was resumed shortly but the damaged pitch meant we were seeing a lot of tired legs out their. After the restart Nepal looked the stronger team. Heroics from goalkeeper Mohamed Faisal and youngster Hussain Shifau(Kuro) kept Nepal at bay.
Second half Nepal looked strong but Maldives counter-attacks were becoming a problem for them. Two Late goals by the creative midfielder Ibrahim Waheed(Ibbe) settled the score for the Maldives.
This is the best performance by the Maldives team in this tournament.
Maldives will play against the winner between India and Pakistan in the final match of the SAFF Suzuki Championship.
