Club Valencia kick start STO Dhivehi League today after the disappointment of failing to qualify to the AFC group stages against the newly promoted Green Streets at 1600 hrs at Galolhu National Stadium. Club Valencia was comprehensively beaten in their last match against Mohun Bagan in India and failed to win against the same opposition at home. Club Valencia’s loss means only one Maldivian club would be appearing in the AFC group stage this season namely Maaziya.

Club Valencia’s opposition Green Streets Club already impressed many by beating Suzain’s Victory Sports club in their opening fixture causing one of the great upsets of the season so far. Green Streets club was promoted to the first division by winning the second division last season against Zefrol. Now Sobah and Green Streets club now has to ensure that they continue and maintain this impressive form for the rest of the season as all the clubs are very tightly matched and the league looks too close to call with no clear favorites.
