Maldives squad for the SAFF Championship has been reduced to 22 players by Petar Segrt.

From the 27 players that camped in Qatar, Mohamed Umair, Mohamed Azzam, Mohamed Saaif, Mohamed Shamir and Hassan Raif has been excluded.

Maldives squad is scheduled to fly to Bangladesh on the 2nd of September, 5 days before the opening match against Sri Lanka. 2 more players are to be omitted from the 22 players for the final squad.

Maldives will play against Sri Lanka on the 7th and India on the 9th. 2 teams from the 3 Nation group will qualify to the semi-finals. Segrt is hopeful of winning the SAFF Championship this year. Maldives won their only SAFF Championship in 2008 defeating India 1-0 in the final match.
