Nizambe's first half strike for Fehendhoo defeats the champions Thimarafushi
Nizambe's first half strike for Fehendhoo defeats the champions Thimarafushi. Fehendhoo beat the Minivan championship winner by a 1-0.
It was all Fehendhoo in the first half. Onli (Ahmed Shareef) played a quick freekick from the middle that found it's way to Ahmed Nizam who volleyed it beautifully to make it one nil. The former TC and Maziya player volleyed the ball over the goalkeeper perfectly to score the first goal for Fehendhoo's Premier League Campaign.
In the second half it was all Thimarafushi pushing forward to equalize. Former BG Sports star Junki (Abdulla Ziyan) and Ahmed Hailam terrorized the Fehendhoo flanks. Late in the game Thimarafushi had many efforts either saved by the in-form Ibrahim Zayan or just off target. Fehendhoo fired by their supporters, small in number but the loudest in the Premier League this year, held on to win their first match in the Premier League.
Talking to the press after the game Thimarafushi Manager Ahmed Sanah gave credit to the Fehendhoo defense line. He also spoke about the need to have better referee's saying that his team isn't the only team to talk about it.
Meanwhile the Fehendhoo manager Moosa Naseem congratulated his team and also praised the opposition. He called on the 'first division' teams and their big coaches that "Football is not for certain people, it is for everyone" Everyone has a right to play as their own game.
The win takes Fehendhoo to 6th place level on points with Maziya who have a game in hand. Fehendhoo are also above Club Eagles who will be playing TC in two days. Thimarafushi remains in the bottom 2 with only one point. They have level on points with Nilandhoo who has conceded more goals.
Fehendhoo will face Foakaidhoo in their next match while Thimarafushi will play a bottom of the league clash with Nilandhoo.
