Dhiraagu U-13 Youth League: Maziya Football Academy wins the opening match!
Football Association of Maldives has officially kicked off the Dhiraagu Under 13 Academy Championship 2018 today evening.
The opening match was played between Maziya Academy and Eagles Football Academy. The chief guest for today evening opening event of the championship was FIFA Consultant, Mr.Chokey Nima. He was accompanied by general secretary of Football Association of Maldives, Mr.Hussain Javaaz (Javaa), deputy technical director for Football Association of Maldives, Mr.Ihsan Abdul Ghani (Saanthi) and assistant coach of senior men’s national football team, Mr.Ahmed Shakir (Shaakittey).
This championship is the brand new chapter in the development program of FAM’s “Towards Future”.
In today’s opening match, Maziya Academy under 13 boys met Eagles Football Academy under 13 boys, which the face off was won by junior green boys of Maziya Academy by 6 - 2.
The opening goal of Maziya Academy was scored by the captain J#10, Abdulla Rifah in the 10th minute. After two minutes the second goal of Maziya Academy followed. This time J#6 Ahmed Naadhin scored making it 2-0 for junior green boys.
But soon after Maziya Academy’s second goal, Eagles Football Academy juniors made it close to closing down the margin of score as they scored their first goal in the 12th minute. Eagles Football Academy J#10, Ahmed Raif scored his first of the evening making it 2-1 in the score line.
In the coming next two minutes Maziya Academy scored double, a goal from Maziya Academy J#7, Yooshau Bin Ali Nasheed and Mohamed Iyan (J#17) made it hard for Eagles juniors to hold on the small margin of the score line. Match went to break, Maziya junior green boys leading the game by 4-1.
Eagles Football Academy boys came stronger in the second half as they managed to score in the opening minute of the second half. Again it was Raif Naseem brilliantly finishing his chance into the back of the net of Maziya goal. His made it 4-2 in the score line.
Somehow Eagles junior boys manage to keep the Maziya boys from scoring another and holding on to 4-2 score till the half way mark of the second half. Junior green boys of Maziya Academy score their last two goals of the game during last ten minutes of the game. A goal from Mohamed Uwais (J#16) and Mohamed Iyan scored and completed his brace in the 49th minute mark.
Both academy side gave maximum chances to players to come and play in the match by with the five substitute change options.
Officials from both FAM and respective academies were present to watch the game. Moreover the parents of the players, friends and families also were present during the match making the environment more exciting.

Next match of Dhiraagu U-13 Academy Championship will be played tomorrow between BG Sports Academy and MS Helping Hand Sports Academy. Match is set to kick off at 16:30 hrs. All the matches of Dhiraagu U-13 Academy Championship will be played at the FAM mini turf pitch.
