Valencia relegated from top flight
One of the biggest football clubs of Maldives, Club Valencia has been relegated to the second division after 39 years.
Valencia and United Victory faced each other in the final leg of the relegation battle which ended by 2-2 resulting that UV will secure the final spot of Male League 2019. UV had won the first clash between these two by 2-0 and had got the advantage coming to the second leg.
Valencia began today's game pushing forward and as a result they scored two early goals. Mohamed Shifan (Kudattey) scored the first goal in the 8th minute while thier second goal was scored by Ansar Ibrahim (Anko) in the 19th minute.
Valencia was playing with full attack in the first half while UV were going on counter and created a few chances. Samuel Cordell scored the first goal for UV on the half hour mark and had given a lead on the aggregate. UV had leveled before the half time and got a 2 goal advantage going to the half time break. Rafinha Marti was in the right place to seal UV's second goal and releive some pressure for the team.
With two goals down, Valencia started the second half with more force up front and started creating chances. UV on the other hand layed back and went on counter. Valencia created many chances but UV's defence held firm and stopped every chance Valencia created. UV on the counter created few chances but Samuel was unable to convert a third goal for the club.
Second half also came to a close and UV had gone through to Male League 2019 4-2 on aggregate. Valencia being one of the biggest and most successful clubs, has unfortunately faced the humiliation of being relegated to the second division. Valencia's place in Male League 2019 will be replaced by Second Division champions Da G.A.N.G, who will face TC Sports Club, Victory Sports Club, Club Green Streets, Club Eagles, Maziya Sports & RC, United Victory and the champions New Radiant Sports Club.
