TC Sports Club has secured the signing of Maldivian star Ali Ashfaq after FAM had terminated his contract with Male League champions, New Radiant Sports Club.

Ashfaq had recently filed a complaint at FAM against New Radiant regarding salary issues at the club and FAM’s Player Status Committee had terminated his contract with the blues. Rumors had spread at that time that the man of steel wanted a change of clubs and was lined with a move to TC Sports Club. Ashfaq had the option to sign for any club before 12 pm tonight but he has preferred a move to TC as rumors predicted.

Ashfaq started his football career at the age of 16 for Club Valencia in 2001 and had made it to the national team by 2004. He was the star when Maldives brought home SAFF Championship in 2008. He is the all-time leading scorer of Maldives and he is also the all-time leading scorer for New Radiant Sports Club. He has acquired almost all the trophies at club level in Maldives and had proved his talent when he played for PDRM in Malaysia.

Ashfaq is considered as the best player of Maldives. He is also considered as the best player of South Asian region by many football coaches, supporters and analysts. Ashfaq’s move to TC will boost the morale of TC players as he is in top form and will certainly strengthen their attack as he is feared by all clubs of Maldives.
