Football Association of Maldives has officially opened the newly built mini pitch. Mini pitch was opened by the chief guest of the event, Economic Minister of Maldives, Mr.Mohamed Saeed. Along with Minister, President of Football Association of Maldives, Mr.Bassam Adheel Jaleel, and both vice president of FAM, Ms.Mariyam Nazima and Dr.Ahmed Shakeeb also took part in the event. Additionally, other executive officials from FAM also took part in the event.

This new mini turf pitch is a great initiate by President of Asian Football Confederation, Mr.Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa to support the youth development programs by FAM.

Speaking in the event, President of FAM, Mr.Bassam said that FAM will be using the newly built mini turf pitch to help and support the youth development programs organized and carried out by Clubs and Football Academies. And also civilians also will be able to access and use the pitch on certain times during night.

The new mini pitch is as in whole one pitch but it is also outlined as small three pitches.

During the event, junior players from Football Academies based in Capital Male’ took part as they played friendly mini games among other teams from other academies.

Maldives national women teams also took part in the evening as they carried out few exercise on one of the three small pitches.

Later there was a small friendly football match played among former national team players and with coaches.

It will be huge support and big relief to the current active football academies based in capital Male', as now also difficulties being faced due to shortage of space in the FAM turf ground.
