NEW RADIANT BEATEN BY THEIR OLDEST RIVALS, VICTORY
Victory Sports Club has won over New Radiant Sports Club by 2-1 in the STO Male league today.
The blues started pressuring Victory’s goal right after the referee’s whistle and had continued to dominate the game in the opening minutes. New Radiant’s attacks were blocked by Victory’s defence and as a result, Victory broke the deadlock just after the hour mark. Simon Tibor Csordas scored o the counter after escaping the offside trap by New Radiant’s defence and placed the ball in the net through a narrow angle, which left New Radiant’s goal keeper Imran Mohamed action less. The blues started pressurizing even more after the goal but were unable to net a goal as the referee blew the whistle for half time.
New radiant, thirst for a goal started the second half pressuring Victory’s defence building more attacks. The blues subbed Mohamed Umair and Guillem for Riham Abdul Ghani (Boby) and Ibrahim Atheeg after the first fifteen minutes of the half.
Victory struck for the second time in the 64th minute on the counter. Ahmed Nashid (Naattey) started his run from Victory’s half, beating two defenders and Imran to double the lead for the underdogs.
New Radiant’s attacks did not stop even after the second goal. As a result, the blues struck back in the 73rd minute. Atheeg who came on the second half scored a header after Ali Fasir (Sentey) delivered a beautiful cross from outside the box.
The blues created more chances after their goal but were unable to find the equalizing goal as the referee blew the final whistle of the match ending the match at 2-1. Victory has temporarily moved to the second place after the huge win with 12 points from 7 games. New radiant is still in the first position with 13 points from 6 games. The blues have yet to play one match from the first round of Male league.
