Eduardo dazzles as Eagles defeat Green Streets
Club eagles earn all three points after beating Club Green Streets 2-1. Eagles Brazilian Striker Eduardo played a vital role in the win as his side moved to the top of STO Male' league.
The first chance of the game fell for Brazilian striker Luiz Eduardo but his powerful shot was comfortably turned away by green streets goalie Sergey Smorodin. Two minutes later in the fifth minute it was Eduardo again with a shot on goal and this time Smorodin was unable to keep the Brazilian's effort at bay as the ball slotted into the far corner of the net.
Green Streets had two good chances to make it all square. The first chance fell for captain Ashad but his shot from inside the six yard box went well wide. Minutes before the end of the first half green dragons received a free kick in Sobol Illia territory. His effort went inches wide of Sujan Perera's goal.
Green began the second half with the upper hand and fired two dangerous efforts on Sujan's goal. The Second attempt was by Sobol Illia who fired a powerful volley which was met evenly by Eagles custodian Sujan who tipped the ball over the bar.
It didn't take long for Green Streets to level things up as Mohamed Rishwan fired home with a thumping left footed effort.
However Eagles didn't take long to retake the lead as Naaim scored from Eduardo's free kick in the 58th minute. Eduardo's free kick was met at the near post by Naaim who headed the ball into the top corner of the net as a helpless Smorodin watched on.
In the 70th minute Eduardo saw his free kick come of the bar as Smorodin once again watched on. Again in the 84th minute Eduardo and Rizvan exchanged passes before Eduardo had a low shot on goal which was saved by Smorodin.
