MNDF ASSURES SECURITY FOR BENGALURU FC FOR THE AFC PLAYOFF MATCH
The Asian Football Confederation has confirmed that Maldives National Defence Force sent a letter assuring the security of Bengaluru FC during their visit to Maldives for the playoff match against TC.
Recently. the government of Maldives declared state of emergency due to huge political uprising in Maldives. Consequently, FAM had to postpone the season opening match, Charity Shield Match of 2018 to a later date, which is to be announced. Also, it was uncertain whether the AFC playoff match would be played or postponed due to the crisis.
The MNDF letter stated: “This is to certify that the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) will be providing the required and necessary assistance and support to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Football Association of Maldives for the upcoming match of Bengaluru FC of India against TC Sports Club of Maldives to be played on 13th February 2018 in Male City in AFC Cup qualifying 2018. MNDF assures its highest consideration in the above matter.”
TC and Bengaluru will face for the first leg of playoff on Tuesday, 13th February and the second leg will be played on 20th February at Bengaluru.
