Maalhos beats Green Streets to cause major upset
Maalhos beats Club Green Streets 2-1 to cause a major upset in the second round of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier league. By beating Green Streets Maalhos became the first Minivan Championship side to beat a Male’ League club this season.
Maalhos scored their first goal of the match in the 23rd Minute of the match by Angel Munoz. Green Street equalized 8 minutes later from a goal by Mohamed Nazzam. Both teams created chances in the reminder of the first half but was unable to add to the score line.
Maalhos took the lead early in the second half from a penalty converted by Angel Munoz who was also the player of the match. With Maalhos leading, Green Street pushed their team up the field looking for an equalizer. But Maalhos defense line looked organized and their goal keeper in peak form to defend the Green Streets attacks.
The last twenty minutes of the match was full of incidents, with green streets players complaining that Maalhos was delaying the match.
After the match Maalhos coach stated that it was a great start for the second round for the team, and a much needed morale boost for the team to improve their remaining results and target a top four finish.
