TC ends Maziya's unbeaten run in the League
TC ended the unbeaten run of Maziya in Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League, with a 1-0 win over them. Maziya, the defending champions came in to the match without their Captain Asadulla Abdulla who is injured and out for the season and the suspended mid fielder Assad Ali.
Ibrahim Waheed Hassan, of TC scored the match’s only goal in the 2nd minute, taking advantage of some sloppy play by Maziya defenders. Maziya improved the game after conceding the goal, and came close to scoring a goal in the 11th minute through their forward Keric whose shot was blocked by TC goal keeper. Maziya controlled much of the first half possession and play but were unable to create much goal scoring opportunities.
Maziya started the second half positively with a dangerous shot by Umair on 47 minutes, which went over the cross bar. Much of the second half was played in the midfield with both teams unable to create clear cut goal scoring opportunities. Maziya looked poor for much of the half giving away many miss-passes. Maziya has a good opportunity to equalize in the 85th minute, when Keric crossed a dangerous ball into the TC penalty area, but TC defenders cleared the ball before a Maziay player could reach it.
The match was refereed by an Indian Official, whose had some poor and questionable decisions throughout the match. Maziya coach highlighted that his team did not play well enough to win the match and questioned some of the refreeing decisions. TC coach was delighted with his teams performance and win, specially given that his team was without five first team players.
Maziya and TC are equal on 13 points after 6 games, with Maziya edging TC in goal difference only.
