Maldives National Futsal team competing in the Futsal tournament of the 5^th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, lost its opening match of the tournament against United Arab Emirates yesterday by a score of 3-1.

The first half of the match ended with a score line of 1-1, but in the second half United Arab Emirates scored 2 more goals to win the game.

Maldives Futsal Team was drawn in group B of the tournament along with China, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirate (UAE) and Uzbekistan. Group winners and Runners-up from each group would advance to the quarterfinals.

Maldives Next match will be on 18 September 2017,against Afghanistan.

This year the indoor games is being held in Ashgabat of Turkmenistan. A total of 6000 Athletes from 62 nations are participating in the 21 events of the games.
