Legendary french defender Marcel Desailly has ariived in Male'. Desailly will be the chief guest of the first match of the league where Kudahuvadhoo and Maziya will fight it out.

Desailly has won the champions league on two occasion. First with Marseille and then again with AC Milan. He also played for Chelsea. But the biggest achievement of his career came with the french national team where he won the 1998 world cup and Euro 2000. He also captained France to a successful confederations cup win in 2001.

With a record budget of 11.2 million Rufiya this years premier league is the first time where island teams and teams from the capital are arranged equally. Four teams from the islands and four from Male' will take part in the league.
