Dhivehi Premier League FAM Referee

Football Association of Maldives is set to start referee courses in the Atolls.

The FA are set to hire a specialist to train Maldivian referees in the Atolls in time for the much anticipated Dhivehi Premier League of 2023-24. With only two years remaining, Maldives will need many more referees in time for the all inclusive Premier League. Along with referees, the FA will also conduct coaching courses and match commissioner courses.

The Dhivehi Premier League has been dominated by Male' clubs since it's introduction. Introduction of Atolls teams in the past ended unsuccessful due to financial issues and irregular promotion/ relegation system. Recently the FA has announced a system where there will be four zones each with their own Third, Second and First divisions. Four Champions from four zones will be promoted to a Home/Away format Premier League joining the existing Premier League teams making it a 12 club Premier League.
