Green Dragons and Grande press release - Both clubs request HPA to reconsider

Club Green Streets and DA Grande have urged the Health Protection Agency to reconsider the decision to ban all group sports event. Both Green Dragons and Grande want a permit for training session to be held.

The Press release by Da Grande and Green Streets was followed by that of Maziya Sports and Club Eagles as frustration grows amongst first division clubs with the ban.

The Health Protection Agency had given permission for return to Football and the league was resumed with players and officials having to follow guidelines and a spectator ban was imposed on all league games.

However, with a sudden rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Greater Male' area the Health Protection Agency imposed a total ban on all group sports. While the ban was imposed the Dhivehi Premier League was the only association sports league that was taking place.

The likes of Basketball, Volleyball have no competitions planned and their respective association have remained silent. However, with World Cup and AFC joint qualifiers and looming for the Red Snappers and an AFC Cup campaign for Club Eagles and Maziya on the horizon it is best that Football be allowed back in action with the previous guidelines set by the Health Protection Agency.
