City grab win over Villa

Manchester City went top of the league with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa. Villa fought off bravely for close to 80 minutes and pushed up with bodies forward and gave a hard time for City at the back. Just when it looked like Villa were on course for a famous point at Eithad a rather bizarre goal turned the tides.
Bernardo Silva fired home into the top far corner to draw first blood in the game. Silva's goal came after Rodrio came back from an offside position to ambush Villa defender Mings and play the ball into the path of Silva who brilliantly disposed it.
Villa were left furious but the goal stood and the game proceeded as Villa looked to push hard for a goal. Smith made his feelings known to referee Jon Moss who came over to the touchline to book him and then produced a red card when the manager reacted badly.
Villa’s resistance was broken and they conceded again in the 90th minute when Matthew Cash raised an arm to handle Gabriel Jesus’s header from a Riyad Mahrez cross. Gundogan stepped up to convert from the spot.
