A Thumping bullet into the far top corner of the net secured all three points for Athif's side. Green Streets pushed hard in the second half but failed to find a way past Valencia goalie Shafeeu.
Valencia did dominate proceedings in the first half and Ali Fasir could have easily doubled the lead but his shot after Bichard's cut back was fired wayward by Sentey.
Valencia found the back of the net in the 26th minute when Ali Ashfaq beat Khalil inside the box and fired a thumping shot into the far top corner of the net.
Just before half time Green Dragons captain Riley curled in a free-kick into the near post. Munti who met the ball in the near post headed it wide of the target.
As the second half continued Valencia dropped backed and defended strongly. In the 66th minute substitue Hassan Nazeem had a glorious chance but his left footed shot was wide of the target.
Valencia did have a golden chance to make it 2-0 but Green Streets goalie Labaan made a brilliant save to keep the score at one nil.
Speaking at the post match conference Valencia boss Athif said he was delighted to have got off to a winning start. Athif also said he needed time to get the best out of his players. When questioned about if Valencia could fight for the title Athif said he had a side good enough and that he would push for the titles. He also added that it was too early to talk about the championship.
Green Dragons gaffer Nishthar said he was not happy with the result and that he wanted his side to take three points in every game. "I feel like today is bad game. I want my side to win. Having to go home empty handed is not what I want". Said Nishthar. He also said that he felt the match officials had given a number of calls against his side.
