Club Eagles gaffer Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) has said that he wants his side to achieve qualification to the AFC Cup. Mohan said that Eagles kick start their preseason late but he hopes to catch up with others. 

Eagles started their preseason campaign last Sunday. Eagles open their 2020 season campaign against Maziya in the Charity Shield. Mohan's league opener is against newcomers Super United Sports. Mohan added that Eagles are not prearing for the opening game but rather to improve game after game as their is not sufficient time to prepare for the opening game. 

Eagles may have to take the long route to the group stage via playoffs but it is to been seen. The draw will confirm if Eagles will have a automatic spot in the group or feature in a Playoff. Maziya remain the only Maldivian side to have made it to the group stages via playoffs. 

Clubs featuring in AFC Cup are big spenders during the transfer however, due to the financial difficulties Eagles are reluctant to spend and will spend no more than what they have said a senior Eagles official. Eagles do have a new signing to their ranks. Brazilian shot stopper Andrea.
