Gaafaru Veterans and Huraa Veterans Friendly Game End In Stalemate
A friendly Veterans game between Gaafaru and Huraa ended in a 0-0 stalemate. The 8 aside friendly match was hosted by Huraa.
Huraa is a well known as a strong footballing island, producing national level players.
In last night's friendly game four former Maldivian National players featured for the home side. Former Valencia and Maldives talisman Ali Shiyam played along with former National Team teammate Mausoom Abdhul Ghafoor(Maasey). Former Huraa FC captain Abdulla Ibrahim(Abulho) also played for Huraa. The cool headed midfield maestro's National Team teammate goalkeeper Isaaq Easa also played.
This is the second friendly between the two sides. On the 11th of September Huraa was beaten by Gaafaru 0-3 in Gaafaru. A double by Mohamed Nashaath and a goal by Azmeel Zaahir sealed the victory for home team.
Although yesterday's draw was an 8 aside match, the first game was a futsal game.
Talking to BoalhaMV, the Vice President of Gaafaru Island Council Aaiz Abdul Raheem said that the two friendly matches was a success bringing the island communities closer together. Both the Island councils worked together make these two games possible.
Huraa FC was one of the power houses of Maldivian football, playing in the top tier and producing several star players.
