Judan Ali Sacked as FAM Technical Director
Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has sacked Judan Ali from the post of its Technical Director.
President of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel confirms to Boalha.mv that Judan was sacked due to a disagreement with the salary cut.
Judan had been receiving $9000 per month as his salary through a sponsorship. However FAM reduced it to $4500 due to financial difficulties amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bassam said that Judan had to leave his post because he refused to accept FAM’s decision. "Judan was receiving his salary through a sponsor of FAM, but due to the current situation of Covid-19 that particular partner terminated the sponsorship with FAM. Since than we have been engaging with Judan to explain the situation" Bassam noted.
Judan was appointed as Technical Director of FAM during December 2019, for a ten years long contract. Judan is an English former footballer and a coach. During his playing career he played for clubs such as Arsenal, Barcelona and Murcia.
Bassam said that before sacking Judan, FAM sought advice from FIFA, and gave notice accordingly before terminating the agreement. FAM also paid him one month prior salary.
FAM is looking for a Maldivian candidate for the post of its Technical Director.
