Andrea Pirlo Appointed as Head Coach of Juventus
Juventus appointed Andrea Pirlo as their new head coach after a week they sacked Maurizio Sarri last week.
The Italian club, Juventus sacked Sarri on Friday after one season. However he has signed a three year contract until June 2022.
Sarri guided Juventus to a ninth straight Serie A title but they were knocked out of the Champions League by Lyon at the last-16 stage.
He then succeeded Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus in June 2019 and became the oldest manager to win Serie A.
Juventus released a statement stating that their decision is "based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead from his debut on the bench, an expert and talented squad to pursue new success"
Juventus noted that Pirlo is pre-destined for greatness, since he was a former player of Juventus and they are confident that he can do the same as a coach.
Pirlo, is a former Italian midfielder, a legendary footballer who was regarded as one of the finest player of his generation.
Pirlo won 116 caps for Italy and assisted to win World Cup 2006.
He spent more of his career in AC Milan where he won Two Champions League and Two League titles. He won Serie A four times with Juventus after leaving AC Milan.
