FA Maldives bids to host AFC cup group stage matches in Male'
Maldives FA has officially bid to host the AFC Cup group E which includes the South Asian teams. The AFC Cup is set to restart in October and is set to take place in one venue.
Bangladesh was another country which was said to have been wanting to host the group games but it in not know if they had submitted a bid to AFC. The Group E consists of two Maldivian clubs one from Bangladesh and one Indian side.
In a tweet made by FA president Bassam he confirmed that Maldives was prepared to host the AFC Cup and also thanked the Ministry of Sports and the government for their support.
Despite the bid conditions of the National Stadium are in poor condition. The lighting of the stadium remains unfit for AFC standards while two matches have to be played at the same time meaning a second venue will be need. The only other venue fit to host games will be Addu stadium.
It is not yet know if FA have plans to host matches in both Male' and Addu.
