Bhutan confident of win against Maldives

The Bhutanese national football team is preparing for the upcoming AFC Asian cup 2019 play-off qualifier against Maldives. The dragon boys have been practicing for more than a month with hopes of a first ever win against Red Snappers.

Dragon boys will be lead by new German coach Torsten Spittler. Local news papers in Bhutan claim that the national side expect a win against Maldives due to the Climate and a huge crowd expected to show up.

Despite all the excitement about this match Bhutan has never won against Maldives before. However the last time the two sides faced in Bhutan the dragon boys gave a real scare with an incredible three goals in five minutes. That game at the Changlimithang Stadium ended 4-3.

Head coach Torsten Spittler has said that he wants a better game than Oman and that he wants his side to pressure Maldives from the start of the game. He also said that the players are all fit and the training is going very well.

We want to make it much better than the last match against Oman and we hope that we have a good result. We will try to give pressure to the Maldives team from the beginning and we hope that we can somehow perform better than we did in our earlier matches. said Torsten Spittler.

Both Maldives and Bhutan are yet to register a point in group D with the two sides loosing their opening games. Maldives suffered a 3-0 win against Palestine at home while Bhutan were humiliated by Oman with a 14-0 scoreline.
