The Asian Football Confederation has extended its suspension on all competitions as a preventive measure due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis through Asia and rest of the World. The decision was also largely influenced by the travel restrictions many Asian countries.
"As one of the first Confederations in world football to undertake precautionary measures in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the latest decision reinforces the AFC’s commitment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of players, participating teams, officials, fans and all stakeholders". The AFC statement says.
"The AFC has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and had earlier postponed its matches in March and April after holding a series of emergency meetings in Delhi, Doha, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur". the statement also included.
AFC also highlighted that the confederation will hold talks with member nations in any situation before taking decision. The AFC cup and AFC Champions league has been suspended for more than a month while two leagues in Asia continue to take place. The Taiwanese and Tajikistan league continues to take place.
