All of Europe's football has been suspended except for the Belarusian Vysheyshaya Liga the countries top division. Many sporting events around the world have been cancelled but the Belarusian premier league goes ahead as normal. 

The new season began on March 19 with Dynamo Brest as defending champions. Dynamo brought an end to Belarusian giants BATE Borisov's 13 year dominance. The Belarus Football Federation deciding to continue the league has meant that they have landed 10 big TV rights contracts including Russian, Indian and Israeli broadcasters. 

Some high-profile voices from within the country are now revelling in the spotlight now being shone on the league, which averages 2,500 matchday fans per game and President Alexander Lukashenko has been keen to stress that it remains strictly business as usual

President Lukashenko said "This psychosis has crippled national economies almost everywhere in the world. Life is going on. You cannot put it on hold. I don’t drink, but recently I’ve been saying that people should not only wash their hands with vodka, but also poison the virus with it."

Belarus has over 163 confirmed cases of the coronavirus with two people dying from the bug and elderly citizens and children are begin advised to stay home.
