Euro 2020 postponed until 2021 due to Coronavirus

European governing body UEFA has cancelled the Euro 2020 due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in Europe. A crisis meeting was held by UEFA today and member associations and UEFA came to the agreement to push the competition by one year. 

The Norwegian FA were the first to break the news about the decision from the crisis talks. Euro 2020 was due to start on June 12 in Rome and finish at London a month later. But now it will take place between June 11 to July 11, 2021.

In a series of teleconferences UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and his senior officials and leaders from member associations came to decide it is best the competition be pushed by a year as Europe struggles in its fight against Coronavirus.

This years Euro was to be held in 12 cities across the continent to mark the 60th anniversary of the European championships. Portugal are the defending champions.
