Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the Maldives, one of the most prestigious Futsal tournaments the Club Maldives Cup has been delayed. 

Club Maldives is open for all government offices and companies and was set to take place from April 7th on wards. Speaking about the decision a senior official of Club Maldives said that the decision was a difficult one but had to be imposed after taking consideration of the current situation. 

Many teams taking part in the tournament have already begun preparations and have started practices and hired coaches for the tournament. 

The news of Covid-19 cases found in the Maldives has come with drastic measure from the sporting community. Many sports events have been cancelled along with youth sporting programs and inter-school sporting competitions. 

Several Resorts have been under sanction by the government after cases of Covid-19 surfaced from those resorts. Many health experts and senior doctors have urged the government to ban school, Universities sporting events and all other that may lead in large gatherings of people.
