Green Streets knocked out by favorites Maziya on penalties
Club Green Streets have been knocked out of the FA Cup by favorites Maziya Sports. Nishthar Ali on charge of his first game at Green Streets suffered a last minute knock out punch by Maziya before winning on penalties. Green Streets had lead twice only for Maziya to come back pegging and draw level.
The first goal of the game was score in the 2nd minute of the match by Ahmed Rasheed after his flicked header found the far bottom corner of the net. Ahmed Yaameen provided a wonderful assist for the goal with a bicycle kick cross to find Ahmed Rasheed.
Maziya drew level on the 61st minute thanks to Hamza Mohamed who slotted home into the far bottom corner of the net after his first shot was blocked by Mohamed Saaif.
The game went into extra time and it was Green Streets who took the lead once again, this time Mohamed Umair slotting the ball into the far corner past the out reaching hand of Azizi Ovays.
Green Streets were seconds away from booking a spot in the semi finals but Ibrahim Mahudhee Hassan shot was deflected of Green Streets goalie into the back of the net.
The match was to be decided on penalties and six successful penalties were taken by each side before Green Streets Ali Hamdhaan saw his sloppy effort easily palmed away by Azizi. This is Maziya's second shootout in having recently beaten Bengaluru FC from spot kicks to secure a place in the AFC Cup.
