Suzain And Imma Appointed to Maldives National Team
Ali Suzain and Imran Mohamed(Imma) are appointed to the Maldives senior national team earlier tonight. According to the Football Association, Ali Suzain will act as an assistant to Maldives coach Martin Koopman and Imma will work with goalkeeper coach Aslam Abdul Raheem in the senior national team as well as in other goalkeeping departments including FA's Goalkeeper Academy.
Speaking to the press at the signing ceremony, Football Association's President Bassam Adheel Jaleel said that Ali Suzain is the most respected Maldivian coach and that he hoped to draft a Maldivian into the national team. Speaking about the two Maldivian legends, Bassam said that these two coaches don't need an introduction. According to the FA President Bassam, he has been trying to bring Suzain to the national team for almost two months now.
"He is the best choice. I needed a Maldivian to bring the winning mentality. Everyone knows him and his input to the team will be huge" The FA President said. Bassam also said that Suzain has the qualities that are required to assist Maldives reach it's target of qualifying to the Asian Cup and to win the SAFF Championship.
Suzain said that he will do his utmost to help build a team that wins over the trust of the supporters and the media. The experienced coach thanked his former club, Green Streets among others.
Meanwhile Imma also thanked Bassam and the FA for the opportunity saying that he never planed to move away from football. Imran who already holds an AFC-C Certificate said that he will complete all the coaching courses and that he does everything with careful planning. Imma said it was not possible to coach while playing as he gave his maximum as a player.
"I have always discussed coaching with Aslam, and in Ihusan's(former Technical Director)time I told him that I would like to someday work as a coach" The Legendary goalkeeper said. Imma also said that he wanted to play football this season. With the difficult circumstances Imma retired as a player.
FA President Bassam said that both the players will be allowed to speak out and he did not discourage constructive criticism. FA General Secretary Hussain Jawaz said that he hoped the public and the media has taken these appointments positively saying that this was one of the most lively press conferences in recent times.
