Young Goalkeeper Impresses on His DPL Debut
Young goalkeeper Hassan Aleef Ibrahim impresses on his Dhivehi Premier League debut for Green Streets.
Though Green Streets lost to TC Sports 0-2, Aleef was very impressive making saves through-out the match. The 18 year old played like a seasoned player making several saves including a couple of point blank saves. Playing with the likes of Ali Ashfaq(Dhagandey), Mohamed Arif(Bakaa) and Mohamed Umair, he looked very comfortable. The debutant faced players such as Ismail Easa, one of the deadliest strikers in the country, Ishan Ibrahim(Sattu) and Akram Abdul Ghani of TC Sports.
The Maldives under-19 goalkeeper is on loan from Club Eagles.
Making matters interesting, Green Streets opponent for the night, TC Sports also had a debutant goalkeeper Saqib Haneef. The Pakistan International's strong performance was well matched by the Maldives Under 19 youngster.
BoalhaMV could not get hold of Green Streets coach after the match. We met with his opponent Mohamed Shazly(Shaz), the TC Sports coach who was also Aleef's coach in the Maldives under-18 team last year. Maldives under-18 team of 2019 was the first Maldivian junior team to win a medal in International Regional Competition, finishing third in the SAFF Under-18 Championship of 2019.
"Aleef showed that he is ready for the Dhivehi Premier League" Shaz told BoalhaMV. Shaz also said that Aleef was one of the key players of the Maldives under-18 last season.
