India request to delay SAFF championship

All India football federation has requested to delay this year’s SAFF championship to May 2018.

India has requested this due to the limited time the Indian football team will have due to the Indian super league which end shortly before the SAFF championship.

The India super league was forced to delay as India host the 2017 FIFA under 17 world cup which goes on from 6th to 28th October.

SAFF championship is scheduled to kick off on the 25th of December in Bangladesh.

SAFF’s general secretary Anwarul Haq has confirmed that All India football federation has requested to delay the competition to next year.

A final decision is to be taken after discussion with sponsor of the competition.
