Victory Coach Mohamed Adam Resigns
Mohamed Adam has resigned as the head coach of Victory Sports Club.
Mohamed Adam said that promises made to him were not fulfilled by the club. With five of his players on international duty with Maldives under 19, many other players have not joined practice sessions due to unpaid salaries. The bottom club is yet to win a point in the Dhivehi Premier League. Last year's Nilandhoo coach, Adam Abdul Latheef(Lacchey), currently the first assistant coach of Victory will take charge as interim coach. Former Maldives legend Lacchey took Nilandhoo from the bottom of the league to a creditable 6th place in the Dhivehi Premier League thrashing Foakaidhoo 5-0 in the last game of last season. Lacchey is best known as formidable striker for Maldives national team and Club Valencia. Lacchey also won the Minivan Championship Atoll round for Foakaidhoo FC in 2018.
Mohamed Adam took over Victory Sports Club at the beginning of the season assembling a very young squad. Victory ran into financial difficulties last year. After letting go of some of their expensive players Victory finished 7th last season. With new chairperson Nashid opting to build for the future, Victory appointed former Victory Legend Ahmed Mauroof(Mattey) as technical director for the club.
