Ali Ashfaq(Dhagandey) is back with the national team.

Dhagandey has joined the national squad today. Dhagandey already tweeted earlier today confirming his inclusion in the national squad.

"Back in business!! In Sha Allah I will always give my 100% everytime I’m called for the national duty. Thanks for the love and support" the legendary forward tweeted. Ibrahim Waheed(Ibbe) also rejoins the squad after small break with a family issue. The team are staying at the Jen Hotel in Male ahead of the World Cup and Asian Cup joint qualification match against China in Male. Maldives will take on the group favorites China on the 10th of September.

Dhagandey was excluded from the squad when Petar Segrt took over Maldives national team. Segrt has given conflicting excuses on why the Maldives captain was excluded. Late last month Dhagandey tweeted a photo with Football Association President Bassam Adheel Jaleel reaffirming his faith in the future of Maldives football. Segrt confirmed that team selections are totally upto him and he will call upon who he sees fit when needed regardless of age.
