Latheef also stated that the main target of the team is to participate in Indian ocean Island games ( IOIG ) to be held in Mauritius from 19 to 28 July and reaching the Semi-Finals of Saff games. IOIG is held once in every four years between the Islands in the Indian ocean.

 

Under the experienced coach Ibrahim Rasheed ( Satho ). The National Women's team started their practices last November with a squad of 20 players. 

 

later this year national team will be participating in South East Asian Games 2019 to be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11. V.A.M has not yet confirmed whether the senior women's team or the under 23 team will be participating in the Tournament.
