FAM has opened the registrations for U12 and U14 “Youth League 2019”. In an article they released recently, they’ve stated that the main purpose of the tourney will be to provide the opportunities that are in dire need by the youth of that age category. Not only that, but they also mentioned about the importance of teaching these youth discipline throughout games and how to give respect to others in this profession while learning how to advance on their own.

Looking at rules and regulations they have mentioned required for the registrations to be valid, all clubs and communities that are to apply should be registered within the base of the Maldivian commission of sports. Prior to that, the applicants should also be running a football academy for at least a year.

The due dates for the applicants forms fall on 20^th June 2019 (Thursday), while the due date for the acceptance of the players and officials lists is right around the corner after that on 27^th June, which also happens to be a Thursday.

Previously, this tournament was held for U13 last year, where academies from both Male’ and Hulhumale participated. There were 8 teams in total, Maldives Soccer Mates, AMS, Eagles Football Academy, Maziya Sports Academy, Early Touch Football Academy, MS Helping, Hulhumale Sports School and BG Sports Academy. The winner that time was ETFA.

These tournaments are run by the FAM under the “Towards Future” project which they announced last year. Furthermore, it should be noticed that almost all players who showed promised at last year’s tournament are currently playing for the national team of their respective age.
