Inter School: Hiriya and Ghaazee takes the last quarter final spots
The teams which will make it into the quarter finals from group D in Mamen U-13 Inter School Football Tournament was confirmed today.
The early kickoff saw Billabong against a Ghaazee side who hasn’t yet lost a game in the competition. The game showed pure dominance from Ghaazee as two players of the team completed hat-tricks in the game. Mohamed Unais Bin Nooh scored four goals (in the 22nd, 25th, 42nd and 53rd minute) and Yoosuf Absam Mohamed scored three goals (in the 10th, 30th and 40th minute). That hat trick completing duos was followed by a Nabhan Jihad goal in the stoppage time of the second half which made it 8-0 to Ghaazee in the game.
The following game had more action than expected despite Ghaazee’s win over Billabong which sealed off any chances for Ghiyaasuddin to make it through into the quarters. However, it was Ahmadhiyya who made use of the disappointed Ghiyaasuddin side which came into the first half, as they netted 10 minutes in, courtesy of Saaim Ahmed Shiham. The half went onto end in that scoreline. Despite a disappointing first half, Ghiyaasuddin came into the second rejuvenated and determined to end the tournament on a high note. Their determination led them to score in the 40th minute in the form of Ethan Ibrahim Zaki. That was followed by Ahmed Julaan Shafeeu’s goal in the 59th minute which won Ghiyaasuddin the game.
These results means that Hiriya who ended their four games with 3 wins would make it into the quarters in second place. Ghaazee leads the group with 10 points and takes the last quarter final spot with that goal fest over Billabong. They are followed by Ghiyaasuddin with 7 points, 3 points shy of a spot in the quarters. Then is Ahmadhiyya with 3 points in 4th and Billabong with no points in the bottom.
All quarter final spots are now confirmed and the quarter finals will commence on the evening of 15th April.
