Inter School: Hiriya makes a comeback while Ahmadhiyya wins it at the last minute
Match day 4 of group D sees Hiriya make a comeback against fellow competitors Ghiyaasuddin which was followed by a pretty intense game which saw Ahmadhiyya scoring at the last minute to win over Billabong.
The late afternoon kickoff featured a Hiriya side who kept a clean 100% record intact and a Ghiyaasuddin side who came from a draw against Ghaazee after a strong start to the competition. The first breakthrough of the game came early in the 8th minute of the first half as Mohamed Julaan strikes for the Ghiyaasuddin side, giving them the lead. Hiriya couldn’t outpower Ghiyaasuddin in the first half, who showed an incredible defensive and offensive performance.
However, in the half that followed, Hiriya came out much improved from their weak first half performance. A dominant display straight from the second half kickoff saw an own goal by Ibrahim Jazlaan of Ghiyaasuddin four minutes in. That was followed 12 minutes later by a strike from Mohamed Rameez which gave Hiriya the lead. Eight minutes later, Ibrahim Mazin confirmed 3 points for Hiriya, which gets them back into the driving seat of group D.
The game the followed saw two teams who hasn’t yet won in the U-13 tier in group D. it was Ahmadhiyya against Billabong. A strong start saw Ahmadhiyya take the lead in the first minute, courtesy of Moosa Ajumal Asif. The same player doubled their lead eight minutes later. However, Billabong came back with a goal, two minutes from the first half whistle. The goal scored by Mohamed Kaisan Niyaz gave Billabong a hope of comeback. They had a dream start to the second half which saw them draw the game 2-2 in the 10th minute of second half, scored by Umran Yoosuf Ibrahim. The game seemed like it was headed to a draw as both sides showed tiredness and with Ahmadhiyya already knocked out of the tournament after 3 losses on the run, it seemed as all hope was lost. But, in the last minute of the half Saain Ahmed Shiham wins the match for Ahmadhiyya which sees them exit the tournament with the collars up high.
These results mean that the 5-team group D is led by HIriya with 9 points. They are followed by Ghaazee who has 7 points and then in 3rd is Ghiyaasuddin with 4 points. Ahmadhiyya is with a consolation 3 points with a last minute win. Billabong follows already out of the tournament and with a match to play.
