After six years CHSE are finally through to the final of the U-18 Mamen Inter School Football Tournament.

They confirmed their spots after tonight’s draw against VIHS. The tournament’s top two teams of this year went head to head tonight and the honous were even by the full time whistle. Looking at both teams, the match also featured CHSE’s star striker Mohamed Maaish Mausoom who is the current top scorer of the tournament who faced off his golden boot rival, Ismail Mimrah Mueen.

Mohamed Maaish Mausoom opened the scoring of the game at the 5^th minute heading the ball which came from a beautifully taken corner kick into the VIHS net for his 12^th goal of the tournament. That goal was also the first VIHS had conceded in the tournament. However, in the 23^rd minute, a beautiful chipped though ball from outside the area found a finishing touch from Mohamed Aflaam Ali which levelled matters. The game was more dominantly played by VIHS and they had more shots on goal. However, CHSE’s keeper was equivalent in stopping those shots and they were equally speedy at counter attack.

This draw takes CHSE to the final after a long wait and in style as they confirm topspot in the table with today’s draw against VIHS. The heavily rivaled sides received excellent support from their students with the stadium filled with cheers, clapping sequences and the sound of loud drums. A scene which of recent isn’t seen as much as it used to be.

VIHS now have to battle it out against Ahmadhiyya, defending champions who faced them in last year’s final and won on penalties. Another game to look forward to on Sunday as last year’s final’s rematch is to be played. All is at stake for both teams going into that last fixture as VIHS is on 7 points in second meanwhile Ahmadhiyya is in third with 6 points. A win for VIHS or a draw would see VIHS go through. If Ahmadhiyya are to make it thorugh to the final they would have to win the game anyhow.
