Inter School: Imaduddin into the final for the second year running
Another penalty shootout and another win for Imaduddin as they knock out Ghaazee in the semis.
The hard-fought game played yesterday was battled heavily by both sides as they went head to head in both attack and defense. As the first half was coming to a close with no goals in, Ahmed Reehan Mohamed of Imaduddin strikes in the stoppage time giving them an advantage going into half time.
The half that followed was equally competitive. Intense play from both side saw attacks to both sides. Incredible football played. With the lead in Imaduddin’s favour as full time approached, Ghaazee needed a hero to atleast take the game to penalties for a chance to battle for the finals again. The normal time ended and we headed into few minutes of stoppage time still with Imaduddin leading. Ghaazee now needed a goal more than ever and they started a more intense game play side as it was now or never. Mohamed Layaan creeped out of the shadows with a strike out of nowhere in the third minute of extra time. Despair for Imaduddin as they were seconds away from winning. That goal meant the game would head into penalties.
Although, it went wrong for Imaduddin at the last minutes, it was Imaduddin who won the spot kick battle scoring all penalties. Ghaazee missed one shot which knocked them out. It was so close yet so far for them.
This takes the orange army into the final for the second year running. Their opponents will be the highest scoring side of the tournament, Hiriya, with star player Ismail Ikan Bin Ali, who is the current topscorer. It will be all to play for on the night of the 20th at the National Stadium. Stay tuned to Boalha.mv for more updates on the tournament.
