Inter School: Imaduddin to the semi finals after an amazing comeback against mighty Majeedhiyya
Imaduddin are into the semi-finals of U-15 Mamen Inter School Football Championship after a hardfought win against Inter School powerhouse Majeedhiyya.
The game started with Majeedhiyya’s domination. They scored 6 minutes into the game via Azuhad Mohamed. Later on in the 23rd minute Majeedhiyya’s Ahmed Yazin Mahudhy doubled their lead. The first half went on to end in the same scoreline. It seemed as if all hope was gone for Imaduddin after the dominant display by Majeedhiyya.
The second half began much improved by Imaduddin and twelve minutes into the half Mohamed Naaish gets one back for Imaduddin. The ray of hope they so desperately needed. However, three minutes later Majeedhiyya’s Humaid Hassan gets his name on the scoresheet restoring Majeedhiyya’s two goal lead with an instant reply. As we headed to the last ten minutes of the game it seemed as there was nothing left in it for Imaduddin, the defending champions. But out of nothing came a Mohamed Eakaan strike in the 61st minute which ended up in Majeedhiyya’s net. One more goal needed for them if they are to get the game into penalties. Normal time of the second half ended in the scoreline of 3-2 in favour of Majeedhiyya although Imaduddin was determined and was attacking intensively in desparate search of a last minute equalizer. Absolute drama! Eazaan Ismail levels it up in the 2nd minute of stoppage time forcing the game into penalties.
The penalties was won by Imaduddin by 4-3, taking them through to the semis after a hardfought match. Absolute scenes at the stadium as Imaduddin won the shootout.
This now means Ghaazee will be playing against them in the semis. Another Inter School powerhouse, and surely one you cannot miss. Meanwhile on the next quarter-finals this evening a Rehendhi side with a 100% record in group D will play against Aminiyya, who survived the group of death with wins against powerhouses Ahmadhiyya and Muhyiddin. That game will be played after the highest scoring side of the group stage, Hiriya battles against group A runner-ups Thaajuddin.
