Inter School: Rehendhi to the quarter final, unbelievable exit for Iskandharu
In the on going Mamen Inter School Football Tournament Rehendhi School has collected another great win. It is three wins out of three matches of group stage. Meantime, unbelievable, but Iskandharu School is out of the tournament.
In the last group stage match of group D, which concludes the group stage round of the tournament, Rehendhi came into the match as group table leading side having collected maximum six points from first two matches. On the other hand, Iskandharu MUST win the game to go further in the tournament. Because in the group stage last round, Imaduddin has managed to win against Ghiyasuddin. With this result the orange army was leading over Iskandharu in the group ranking, so the three points from this match was the only card left to be played for the reds to get into the quarter final.
There also were a possibility that Rehendhi might also gets eliminated from the tournament, if Iskandharu manages towin against Rehendhi by four goals margin. To the fact, Rehendhi was well aware.
The match started well by both sides. Iskandharu looked more eager to score. On the counter attacks Rehendhi also were pressuring the reds defense line. As a result, to a foul commit inside the penalty area, Iskandharu was penalized with a penalty. From which the Rehendhi side went on to take the lead for the first time. The brilliantly performing number 11 of Rehendhi, Ibrahim Maun shot the ball to the upper net at the 25th minute from the spot putting Iskandharu on a more difficult situation.
The match reached the half time with Rehendhi side leading the game by the only goal scored by Maun from the penalty.
More than ever, Iskandharu was in need of goals to turn the match around. They were playing well. Attempting the attacks but somehow the Rehendhi defense was on alert for the reds. Iskandharu kept tryin, and trying. It seems Rehendhi was ready for the dangerous they gona face from Iskandharu side as they neutralized those attacking plays by the reds.
The difficult level and the pressure for the reds rose when Rehendhi went onto score their second of the evening. This time, the number 10 and the captain. At the 53rd minute a ball received by Mohamed Dhalf inside box found the opponent goal well as Dhalf scored without any much pressure from the defenders of Iskandharu.
But the spirit of the last year runner-up side was on. Iskandharu was not to give up. Hope for Iskandharu flew at the 59th minute. Just six minuted to the second goal of Rehendhi, the reds went on to score their first. Mohamed Zayin scored for his side. Which was a one but a lot for the Iskandharu side at the time. With which the game took a turn. Reds took the driving seat, and they kept going on against Rehendhi finding another goal to level the game. And it did not take long. 10 minutes after Iskandharu scored another. It was Zayin again. With his second goal just a minute before the end of regular time, 69th minute, he completed his brace. But it was too late for Iskandharu as the match official showed 2 minutes as extra time. And it also was too little for the reds to bag the game. While Iskandharu was in doing everything they can to score the one goal which can turn the score on the reds favour, but again unfortunatly for Iskandharu side, it was Rehendhi who watered the dreams of reds. A goal straight from a late corner killed the Iskandharu players within. Brilliantly in-swinged corner of Dhalf left the Iskandharu goalie just looking at it as it placed in the top right corner of the goal.
Surely, it was not the result and was not the tournament which one of most impressing side of inter school football, Iskandharu was hoping. Neither the team, nor the cheering fans. But it is it. Reds sees the exits while the long waiting Imaduddin was jumping out of happiness as the defeat of reds gave the quarter final ticket to the orange army side.
