Due to unpaid salaries to the players by the club, New Radiant has been suspended from all FAM activities. Questions have been eversince developing whether the team can play the youth championship or not.

The suspension came into effect after the club failed to pay the players salary in the time period given by FAM after some players filed complains to FAM regarding upaid salaries. New Radiant says the step taken by FAM is unacceptable.

The question is now whether one of the biggest clubs in Maldives can play the youth championship or not? The team has been preparing for the tournament just as the other teams participating. More confusion arises as the draw for the youth championship to be held today and all the clubs were told to attend the draw.

Despite the club saying the suspension is unacceptable, FAM in its report regarding the suspension mentioned that they will do all they can to maintain the integrity and protect the sport in the country. Referring to this statement we feel that the youth squad of new radiant will not be allowed to take part in today's draw, meaning the tournament will then be participated by 8 clubs.

As per speculations surrounding the issue and the tournament, the tournament is expected to be participated by 8 teams with 4 in each group, and the top 2 teams from each will play semi and winners of those two matches will play the final to decide the title clincher.
