Aslam rejoins the National Team

Legendary former national goalkeeper Aslam Abdul Raheem has rejoined the national team as the goal keeper trainer. After an absence of two years coach Aslam has accepted the offer from the Football Association of Maldives.

Aslam left the national team after difference of opinion with then National Coach Ricki Lloyd Herbert. Aslam has worked with former coaches Velizar Emilov Popov, Drago Mamic and Istvan Urbanyi. Aslam is the one of the most experienced goalkeeper coaches in the region. Aslam besides training Maldivian goal keepers is known to have trained Sujan Perera, the number 1 goalkeeper of Sri Lanka.

Aslam won the FAM Youth Championship with Club Valencia as the Head Coach. He is currently the goalkeeper trainer for Club Eagles. He was part of their President's Cup winning team in 2016, Youth Championship of 2016 and 2014 (as goalkeeper trainer), where Eagles won the tournament without conceding a single goal.
