Premier League format has been changed by the Football Association of Maldives. 

The Premier League format has been changing since it's beginning. After consulting with the Premier League Clubs, The Football Association has decided to change to a ten month season starting from June.

2019/2020 league will start with the top eight teams from this year's Premier League, United Victory and the newly promoted DA GANG. New season 2019/2020  will probably end on May of 2020 as FA wishes to hold both President Cup and FA Cup after both competitions were omitted due to various reasons this season.

This means Nilandhoo FC and Foakaidhoo FC will be allowed to fight for their place in the league next season without the Minivan Championships. They will only drop if they get relegated like any other team.

Two year season will surely have it's advantages and disadvantages, with the government talk of changing the school holidays to June, this format could be ideal. This time, the technical department of FAM met with the Male' Clubs and except for Maziya, all the clubs wanted the league to start in June. In short, majority of the clubs preferred the league to begin in this new format.

This also means that we will not have the Male' League.
