Maziya Sports and Recreation earned a well-deserved win over Gokulam Kerela to stay on course in the group stage going into the final group game against Indian giants Mohun Bagan. Maziya lost the first game against Bangladeshi champions Bashundhara Kings after an error from keeper Kiran and defender Samooh. However, Maziya dominated proceedings in the game but failed to find a way past a strong Bashundhara defensive setup.

Maziya started against Gokulam with an early attacking set up and the first chance of the game fell for Cornelius Stewart in the 16th minute after Aisam found him with a lovely through ball inside the area but Stewart's first time shot with his left foot went well over the bar. In the 25th minute, Aisam saw his long-range shot from outside the box pushed away by the Gokulam goalie.

Maziya broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when Tana and Stewart combined. Tana placed a well-timed through ball for Stewart who took it away from the defender with his first touch before seeing his shot deflect off the defender into the back of the net.
